A finely balanced game on Sunday saw OLCC U13 NEC pull out an excellent win against table topping Dulwich. Electing to bat first Ben Barney scored a sparkling 33 off 28 balls to get the side moving, there was dogged resistance from Ben Cooper (23) and Matt Thomas (16). The acceleration needed to come in the final few overs and this was delivered by Joseph McCusker (15 no) and man of the match Felix Curson who hit 35 off 19 balls faced including a massive 6 off the last ball to post 161 for 4 off 24 overs.
Dulwich then galloped away as some wayward bowling and a few lapses in the field meant that Dulwich were well up on the run rate. Ben Cooper who kept wicket in the absence of the injured Sam Hartley did a fine job behind the stumps and mixed his bowling up with Ben Barney was the pick of the bowlers taking a wicket for only 10 runs in his 4 overs, Raff Pearce taking 2 wickets for 12 off 3 overs and Matt Thomas taking a wicket for 13 runs off 2 overs. The fielding improved and Matt Thomas, Ben Cooper and Phillip Langham all contributed run outs. Dulwich were still within reach but bowling near the death by Phillip Langham conceding only 5 runs off his last two overs combined with the speed of Ben Barney and the accuracy of Joseph McCusker and Felix Curson who both bowled a tight couple of overs at the end to leave Dulwich stranded on 145 for 8.
