March saw winter’s cobwebs swept away and a blossoming of OLCC competitive spirit as 52 club members fought hard for the Cup of Glory, at The Force’s skittles fundraiser.
The Limpsfield Legion filled with the sound of skittles crashing with all the excitement of the Grand National, and the final day of The Masters combined, especially when the final was determined on the rocking of the last skittle on the last ball!
James Costin’s team clung on for victory as the crucial skittle failed to topple for Becky’s inappropriately named Lucky Ladies. The final score 28 against 27.
Ben Barney’s first team ringer’s manfully took the wooden spoon after a play-off against Duncan’s team, scoring 22 against 29.
The Force Youngsters had a strong showing losing the playoff to the eventual winners. They were also a force for good taking on the challenging and quite frankly dangerous role of retrieving and resetting the skittles.
A big thank you to Philippa, Maggie, Michelle VH and Emily for all their organisation, Ali for her valiant work on the laptop keeping the scoring updated and to Gemma for organising a very successful raffle.
In the end the event raised a healthy £750 for the club’s coffers.
Lucky raffle winners extended the evenings joy to many that couldn’t make it on the night, including Mirrors, Duncan Southcott, Phil Traynor, Justin Ducker and George Harris..... and not forgetting the night’s star prize of dinner at Kinjo going to the thoroughly deserving Gemma Bainbridge who organised the entire raffle - nothing at all suspicious to see here folks !
Thank you to everyone who attended and made the evening great fun and a roaring success.
