OLCC U13, bolstered by a highly talented group of U11 and U12 players, shrugged off a determined Reigate Priory to continue their unbeaten start to the season.
Stan, captain for the day, won the toss and taking the initiative decided to bat. Sam 'the sweep' Hartley (24) and Ben 'boom boom' Cooper proceeded to race along at 8 an over. ‘Coops’ retired (30). Woollard carried on the good work: sensibly compiling his 30 runs with 1 or 2 slap stick examples of running between the wickets along the way. With cameos from Kay, Barney and Paisey, OLCC set an impressive total of 130.
Freddie Bennett's left arm darts are now impressive fast darts- he's been working on the guns over the winter. His first over set the tone and OLCC never gave the Priory a sniff. Superb fielding (direct hits from Will and Stan - helped by a great stop from Tom; tidy work in the covers from Jake and a decent catch from James) plus some tidy bowling (Tom Richards and Stan Bey both looked class performers, James bowled a tight line and picked up an important wicket and Raff Pearce bowled well without luck) left Reigate well short of the target at the end.
Next week Merstham at Home. The U13 ESCL bandwagon keeps rolling!
