Another solid performance from Sir Jackson guarantees Oxted finish as Champions

Surrey Championship Division 3 1st XI
Trinity Mid-Whitgiftian CC 1st XI – 124 (38.3 overs)
Oxted and Limpsfield CC 1st XI – 125 – 4 (25.2 overs)
Oxted and Limpsfield CC win by 6 wickets and are Champions

For their penultimate game of the season, Oxted were at home to already relegated Trinity Mid-Whitgiftian knowing that a win would see them guaranteed to finish as league champions.

The opposition won the toss and elected to bat. Ben Fullard (3-23) and Lee Mcilwraith (0-12) took the new ball and both bowled decent areas. Mcilwraith was economical and unlucky not to pick up a wicket, however Fullard capitalised fully and took 3 quick wickets to leave the opposition struggling on 41-3.
Simon Jackson replaced Mcilwraith and continued his fine form with the ball, making the opposition play every delivery. After his 10 overs he had 4 wickets for only 31 runs.

Jay Mastin was involved in fielding moment of the day as he threw down one stump from 20 yards before Ned Lack and Ross Powell were given the chance to close off the innings. They managed to pick up one wicket a piece; Lack picking up 1 for 13 of his 3 overs, with Powell ending on 1 for 42 off his full 10 over spell.

Trinity Mid-Whitgiftian lost wickets at regular intervals throughout their innings and the result was that they became the 11th side to be bowled out for less than 130 by Oxted in 17 games this year.

Jack Lloyd and Skipper Simon Jackson got Oxted's innings off to a good start before Lloyd was caught for 11. Stuart Fletcher played nicely for 21 before he was clean bowled however Oxted were already over halfway to their total at 74-2. Jackson was to fall 10 runs later for 38, taking him over 700 runs for the season with 1 game to go.

Hugh Caterall added a little cameo of 7, before ever reliable Fullard (20*) and Powell (12*) knocked off the remaining 30 runs to see Oxted home with half their allotted overs remaining.

The result meant Oxted and Limpsfield moved onto an unassailable 327 points and therefore are champions of Surrey Championship Division 3.

Natterbox Man of the Match for the second week in a row is Skipper Simon Jackson for both his 4 wicket haul and 38 with the bat.

For the final league game of the season, Oxted take on 2nd placed and fellow promotee’s Dorking. 11:30 start at Master Park.
