The championship is so close, they can taste it.

Surrey Championship Division 3 1st XI
Horsley and Send CC 1st XI – 144 (43.4 overs)
Oxted and Limpsfield CC 1st XI – 145 – 8 (46.3 overs)
Oxted and Limpsfield CC win by 2 wickets

For their last away game of the season, Oxted travelled to already relegated Horsley and Send still needing at least 2 more wins to guarantee them the championship.

The opposition won the toss and elected to bat on. Ben Fullard (2-30)and Lee Mcilwraith (1-17) took the new ball and while the latter bowled down the hill into good areas, Fullard ran up the hill into what can only be described as gale force winds. Both bowled decent areas and picked up early wickets to leave the opposition at 30-3, the third being another outrageous one handed grab by Alex Pizzey at Gully.
Charles Trott was given a chance to replace Fullard however the strong winds proved too much. 12 off his one and only over was evidence enough.
After a little argument in which both spinners decided they didnt want to bowl into the wind, Simon Jackson (2-27) replaced Trott and showcased just how to bowl in such conditions.
Ned Lack and Ross Powell bowled from the other end and continued their fine seasons, with Lack picking up 2 for 40 and Powell ending on 3-11.

Horsley were never really given the chance to get going and the result was all out for 144.

Jack Lloyd and Skipper Simon Jackson got Oxted's innings off to a good start before Lloyd was caught for 6. Stuart Fletcher and Hugh Caterall both failed to get into double figures also.
Jackson (55) played patiently and eventually brought up his half century before losing his wicket 5 runs later. Powell only managed to last 3 balls however Fullard dug in and with a little help from Pizzey (9) and Mike Wood (4*), he was able to see the team home, bringing up his half century (51*) with the winning runs.

Oxted and Limpsfield remain top of division 3 (307 pts). With 2 home games left in the season, Oxted require 5 points to guarantee they will finish as Champions.

Natterbox Man of the Match is Skipper Simon Jackson for both his spell of bowling and his 55 with the bat.

This weekend Oxted take on the other relegated side Trinity Mid-Whitgiftians. 11:30 start at Master Park.
