A Ben Fullard majestic 94 helps OLCC back to the top of the table

Surrey Championship Division 3 1st XI
Dorking CC 1st XI - 109 (30 overs)
Oxted and Limpsfield CC 1st XI - 220 (53.5 overs)

Oxted and Limpsfield CC win by 111 runs

Oxted and Limpsfield 1st XI headed into the Surrey Hills to take on Dorking for the biggest game of the season so far. Prior to the game, Oxted were sitting in second with newly promoted Dorking top of the tree.

Skipper Simon Jackson won toss and elected to bat. Durrany and Fletcher looked to continue their great start to the season however the Dorking seam attack of Shah and Miller were up to the task; reducing Oxted and Limpsfield to 8-2 very early on.
Jackson stabilised the innings somewhat and together with Andy Starling, the pair put on a partnership of 66, Jackson eventually caught well at second slip for 46. Starling followed shortly after for a very valuable 28.

The next partnership for Oxted and Limpsfield was between Ben Fullard and Ross Powell. The former looked in awesome form as he stroked the ball to all parts of Pixham Lane. Powell also looked in fine form and comfortably held up one end while Fullard took Dorking to the sword. When Powell eventually fell for 25, the partnership was worth 94 and Oxted and Limpsfield had moved onto 184-5.

Fullard continued to score at a good rate while the remaining wickets fell at the other end. He tried to bring up his debut 1st X1 century with a 6, however was caught on the boundary in the penultimate over of the innings for a masterful 94.

After tea, Lee Mcilwraith and Fullard went to work trying to remove the Dorking openers who were set to attack from the outset. Although runs were being leaked, Mcilwraith (2-16) picked up the two openers to leave Dorking 32-2.
At this point, Jackson turned to the spin option of Ross Powell who continued his good season by claiming 2 victims; one of which, the key wicket of Nick Lee (38) to finish with figures of 2-40 from his 11 over spell.
Jackson brought himself on for a bowl and also picked up 2 wickets (2-16), the pick being the wicket of Shah, the Dorking overseas player. Alex Pizzey with a diving one handed grab at gully. One of the catches of the season.

Dorking were now 94-6 after losing wickets regularly, however to their credit they did not want to settle for a draw.

Ned Lack was thrown the ball to try and finish the game. He didn’t disappoint. In 4 overs he picked up 4 for 14 including two caught and bowled. The final wicket was that of Jason Swift for a patient 25.
The result saw Oxted and Limpsfield go top of the table for the first time this year.

Natterbox Man of the Match goes to Ben Fullard for a majestic 94. Next week Oxted host Staines and Laleham. 13:00 at Master Park.
