Narrow loss for brave U11 side.

OLCC U11 - 118-8 (24 overs)
Old Whits U11 - 119-9 (23.5 overs)

Winning the toss, Old Whits inserted the hosts on a dry Crockham Hill wicket.
The OW seam attack picked up early wickets with some lively and accurate bowling.
At 15-3 the home side were having a wobble!
Olly Bennett 30 (retired), C Read 27 and Ralph Lewis 15 (not out) all punished the bad ball and rotated the strike well with plenty of cheeky singles!
118-8 felt like a very competitive score.

The opening over of leg spin from Ralph Lewis got the early breakthrough with a diving catch from C Read at cover.
Debutant Hugo DVH picked up his first U11 wicket with 2 excellent overs of bowling!
After 12 overs Old Whits were ahead of the required rate at 62-4.
The Grasshoppers stuck to their task with good spells of bowling from Martinus, Sammy, Angus and Alfie. Martinus’ second over went for only 3 runs and helped to slow up the run rate.
Will DVH also chipped in with a very useful wicket maiden.
Max ‘The Octopus’ Hall switched from keeper to bowler after the drinks break and picked up 2 quick wickets to put the visitors under pressure!
The ever brave Jake Curson put his hand up to bowl the final over of the game where Old Whits needed 5 to win with only 1 wicket remaining.
Jake took the game to the 5th ball of the over where the visiting number 11 batsman managed to see his team home to the narrowest of victories.

Thank you to the scorers, umpires, kitchen staff and supporters!

A thoroughly enjoyable game of cricket!
