“Our intention is to design the new building so that it will be in keeping with local needs and more suitable for multiple sports and community activities.”

The following statement was released to the local press recently.
Kevin Powell and Phil Trayner are representing the Cricket Club on the new Pavilion Development Committee. We will be inviting members and interested local residents to view and comment on the preliminary plans once these are drafted.
NEW COMMUNITY PAVILION FOR MASTER PARK IN OXTED
Specialist architects Sports Clubhouses have been appointed to draw up plans for the redevelopment of the pavilion on Master Park.
Master Park has been used for recreation since the late 19th century and this use was formalised in 1923 when Charles Hoskins Masters executed a deed stating “the said piece or parcel of land should be laid out and reserved for ever hereafter for the healthy recreation and amusement of the inhabitants of the Parish of Oxted and their friends”.
The existing pavilion was built in 1967 but is now in urgent need of replacement in order to comply with modern regulations. A committee with representatives from the Master Park Management Committee, Oxted and Limpsfield Cricket Club and Oxted and District Football Club has been set up to agree requirements, obtain planning consent, raise the necessary funds and oversee the construction of the new building.
“Not only does the existing pavilion not comply with modern standards, it also does not meet the needs of the two sports clubs” says Kevin Powell who is Chair of the Development Committee. “In addition, we have found in recent years that many local societies and clubs would like to use the facilities but are unable to do so because the building design is such that a single sport or usage essentially blocks any other activity from happening smoothly at the same time. Our intention is to design the new building so that it will be in keeping with local needs and more suitable for multiple sports and community activities.
“We would like the Park and new pavilion to be a facility that can be used by the whole of Oxted in line with Charles Hoskins Masters’ wishes. I hope the community and especially those who use the Park will get behind this project and help us raise the necessary funds to pay for the new building.
“We are extremely grateful to the Titsey Rotary Club and Oxted Beer Festival for their donations which have helped us pay for the initial set up costs, but we are going to need considerable support to finance the actual development.”
Andy Macdonald, Director of Sports Clubhouses says “We are delighted to be associated with this project and hope that our experience of designing and building many similar facilities will ensure the new building will not only be attractive and in keeping with its location on Master Park, but also something that will be used by the people of Oxted.”
Once initial plans have been drafted the intention is for consultation to be undertaken with neighbours before a pre-planning application meeting with Tandridge District Council. For further information regarding the development of the pavilion or if you would like to assist in any way please contact Kevin Powell on firstname.lastname@example.org .
Please spread the wonderful news and keep an eye out for further announcements.
