Narrow defeat for U11 in Cup Semi final

OLCC U11 - 197
TRINITY MID WHITS U11 - 220

(10 a side pairs format)

For this ESCL Cup Semi Final, the home team were asked to bat first.

The Grasshoppers were able to reach 221 at the half way stage of their innings with some crunching boundaries from Martinis, Liam and Thomas. Olivia batted watchfully and continued to frustrate the TMW bowlers.
There was positive intent from the OLCC lower order, however the accurate bowling and tight fielding from TMW’s caused a late flurry of wickets.

OLCC - 197

The Grasshoppers started well with early wickets, lively fielding and all players showing a great attitude!
Joe bamboozled the batters with his leg spin wizardry and was rewarded with a wicket.
Theo, Olivia, Martinus, and Liam ensured the opposition were hovering around the 200 mark after 12 overs with excellent spells of tight bowling.
Ben extracted extra pace and bounce and Harry Morley produced an over of the highest quality! He picked up 2 quick wickets and had the Grub Street crowds out of their seats!
(Kevin Wescott almost knocked over his pint of Fosters he was so excited!)
Game on!
With some tight fielding and excellent catching the Grasshoppers had kept themselves well and truly in the game.
C Read made his debut behind the timbers and was able to snaffle a diving caught behind.
George ‘The Voice’ Peachy provided encouragement throughout the whole innings and chipped in with a very tidy 2 overs of bowling at the end of the innings. His partner Will DVH was also able to beat the outside edge of the bat, but the final TMW’s batting pair stood firm and edged their team to victory.

TMW’s - 220

The Grasshoppers demonstrated that they can bowl and field with the best of them.
They will have learnt that run outs are costly!

Thank you to the supporters, Hall Snr & Hall Jnr for scoring and Ed DVH for umpiring.

Onwards!

Coach
